Wheat Bread Recipe

Homemade Wheat Bread Recipe

I love the smell of baking bread!  It was my appetizer I served with salami and a glass of wine.

W H E A T  B R E A D  R E C I P E

1 T yeast

1/2 c. warm water

Dissolve for 5 minutes.

2 1/4 cups warm water

1/2 c. brown sugar

2 tsp. salt

1/4 c. canola oil

Start whisking in 3 cups wheat flour.  Add two more cups of white flour.  Then put about one cup of white flour on the counter top and place the dough on it.  Before I start kneading the bread I coat my hands in Crisco.  As I am kneading the dough if it feels sticky add more flour and knead it until it is smooth.  Let it rise in a warm place or you can use a bread-proof oven and let it rise for one hour (can cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap).  Divide in half and shape into two loaves, put in greased bread pans.  Let rise another 45 – 60 minutes.  Bake for 30 – 35 minutes at 375 degrees.

I let the bread cool for awhile and I then used an electric knife to slice it and served it with room temperature unsalted butter.
